Check out the very first elopement I ever photographed! When Jordan first reaching out to me saying she was eloping and needed a photographer, I think my heart about exploded. Her and Byron are from Oklahoma, and they were coming up to Kansas City for a little vacation, and while they were here they were going to get married. Just the two of them celebrating their love for each other. I think I actually did a little happy dance!

The ceremony was going to be held at The Vow Exchange – The Chapel on The Corner. This was my first time photographing at this venue, and I had no idea what to expect! I walked in and I was speechless. A beautiful glowing white room, with just the right amount of simple little details, and beautiful wooden chairs. Jordan and Byron were already there and dressed, just casually hanging out and waiting for the time to arrive when they could finally be married. This was my first time meeting them in person, and they were so chill and just excited to be there! I photographed the details of the venue, the wedding rings, and Jordan’s beautiful bouquet created by Untamed Floral KC.

The ceremony was very simple and sweet, lasting only about 5-10 minutes. As a photographer it was pretty awesome being able to move around as much as I needed to without being worried about getting in the guests way. Also, since there were no guests, I got to sign their marriage license as one of their witnesses! Seriously the best feeling ever, being able to capture such an intimate moment in their lives and to be one of the only witnesses. This was such an honor, and I am forever grateful that people trust me to be there for one of the most important days of their lives.

After the ceremony we took some pictures of them at the venue, and then we headed out to Burr Oak Woods! I’ve always wanted to photograph a couple there, and today was the day, for an elopement of all things! We had a great time playing around in the trees, and to top the whole experience off, we ended with popping a bottle of champagne to celebrate their brand new union. All in all I was only with them for about two hours, but this day will forever be one of my favorite photography memories, and I’m sure it will be one of theirs too. 🙂
